Latest Miscarriage of Justice

Miscarriage of justice in India is such a regular phenomenon that it never surprises anyone. The rich and powerful get away with murder, literally, by twisting thing the way they want. The verdict in Jessica Lal murder case is the latest in this episode. A woman was murdered in front of hundreds of people of the self styled upper class and the killers have gone scot free.

Kanchan Gupta wrote a nice piece in Pioneer about a series of events in which the rich and the powerful of Delhi got away with henious crimes. The conclusion is most chilling

"And, let there be no doubt. We shall never ever put the Manu Sharmas of Delhi on a shame-and-shun list. Because deep within, we aspire to be a part of the crowd to which Bina Ramani and Malini Ramani belong. That's Delhi's filthy underbelly for you."
